WHAT IS ECHOLINEAR?
Echolinear is a patented sound absorbing system for ceilings and walls, comprising a streamlined, demountable fixing system, E0 and FSC® certified substrate and a seamless linear look. Designed to achieve the highest aesthetic and sound quality levels, Echolinear combines quality materials and superior acoustic capabilities with extremely simple installation.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Echolinear can be considered as a number of resonance chambers assembled together, into which sound waves enter, mixed with air, through holes in the external surface. Once the sound waves are inside the chambers, they are dissipated by the friction experienced in the tunnels of air. Even if there is no free space or rockwool insulation behind the panels, the mechanism remains efficient in the absorption of medium sound waves, such as those of the spoken word.
ADVANTAGES
High acoustic performance combined with a seamless linear aesthetic, Echolinear is a revolutionary system of modular, slotted, sound absorbent, timber planks that fits together with no screws or nails, making it fully demountable and re-usable.
Manufactured with unparalleled precision the installation of Echolinear is faster and easier than that of other acoustic panels and provides a more sophisticated finish. Echolinear’s timber substrate acts as an effective absorber as well as imbuing a pleasing warmth and timbre to a space. Add to that the fact that Echolinear is made from E0, 100% FSC® pure board and you have a really sustainable acoustic solution.

ACOUSTIC ABSORPTION
The acoustic performance of sound absorbing materials can be generally described by a value known as the NRC or Noise Reduction Coefficient. The NRC is calculated as the mean average of the sound absorption values at 250, 500, 1000 and 2000Hz. NRC values of Echolinear vary with the different milling profiles and the method of installation.
Note: Rockwool used in our tests is 30mm thick, with a density of 60 kg/m3. Tests carried out in accordance with ISO 354.

STORAGE
You must store Echolinear packs indoors and protect them from moisture and humidity.
ACCLIMATISATION
48 hours prior to installing, open the Echolinear packs in the installation location and allow the planks to stabilise at the ambient conditions. The environment in which you are installing Echolinear must have been conditioned prior for at least 24 hours and have a temperature of at least 15C and humidity between 40% and 60%.
JOINTING
You have various jointing options when laying Echolinear planks end to end, including:
- leaving a gap between the two planks the same width as the milling
- butt-joining the ends in a random or hinged configuration and securing them together using the special joining springs (to a maximum of two planks).
When deciding between these alternatives, remember that the length of Echolinear planks can vary according to differing environmental humidity conditions (+/- 2mm per metre). Walls and/or ceilings requiring the jointing of more than two planks require expansion joints to be designed into the installation.
WALL INSTALLATION
Mounting System Structure
- Metal omega rails 3000mm x 18mm x 24mm
- Starter clips
- Clips for anchoring planks to the omega rails and screws for securing the clips
- Fixing accessories / either self tapping screws or screws plus expansion fixing, depending on the type of support (by others)
- Rockwool insulation panels (by others)
- Finishing clips to secure the last plank
Installation
Secure the metal omega rails to the wall at intervals of no more than 600mm and at right angles to the orientation of the the Echolinear planks. Then lay rockwool between the rails.
For horizontal orientations, mount the first plank with the female side towards the floor and secure it with the special starter clips, then insert the clips to anchor the male side. Mount subsequent planks above the first, securing them in the same way.
When mounting vertically, start from one side and proceed as above.
It is recommended that you screw fix at least every fourth clip to the support structure omega rail by means of the self tapping screws provided.
Edges can be finished with standard profiles shown below under Accessories.

CEILING INSTALLATION
Mounting System Structure
- 4mm diameter hanger system for fixing the omega rail to the ceiling
- Fixing accessories to suit the type of ceiling structure (by others)
- Metal omega support rails 3000mm x 18mm x 24mm
- Starter clips
- Clips for anchoring planks to the omega rails and screws for securing the clips
- Rockwool insulation panels (by others)
- Finishing clips to secure the last plank
Installation
Using the hanger system and metal omega rails, first build the metal support structure for your Echolinear ceiling at the required height from the ground. Fit the rails to the hangers and at right angles to the orientation of the planks – the recommended distance between both rails and hangers is about 600mm. When fitting the perimeter rail, leave a gap of 18mm between the rail’s horizontal seat and the wall.
Place the female side of the first Echolinear plank against the perimeter rail and use the special starter clips to secure it to the omega rail.
Next, insert the clips to anchor the male side.
Now place the second plank against the first and then continue with subsequent planks, repeating the anchoring operation using clips until the installation is complete. It is recommended that you secure all clips to the support structure omega rail by means of the self-tapping screws provided.
Secure the last plank with finishing clips and wire as required.
Drop in rockwool insulation batts between omega rails. (Optional)
Edges can be finished with standard profiles shown below under Accessories.
ACCESS PANEL
You can integrate an access panel into your Echolinear ceiling at the time of installation. A special kit is available for this purpose.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
Clean with a soft damp cloth and mild cleaning agent. A soft eraser can be used for pencil lines.
↑ S-Top
A new picture hanging accessory to enhance the functions of the sound absorbent Echolinear wall. S-Top is a multipurpose attachment element, compatible with Echolinear 28/4 and 13/3. S-Top has a minimal design and is applied directly into the existing holes in the panel, thus eliminating the need to drill Echolinear. It is inserted into the milled groove, where it is locked in place by tightening the head screw: fixture to the panel is then achieved by opening the two “wings” in the rear, which ensure stability. Thanks to this system, S-Top can also be easily repositioned to suit changing requirements.
