WHAT IS EVENEX® PAPERWALL?
Evenex® PaperWall™ is a wood fibre-based wallpaper that replicates the patterning, grain and texture of timber and other materials with unrivalled realism.
Designed to work with our Evenex Sincro panels for joinery and Evenex Profiles, its authentic appearance is achieved through a combination of high definition printing and precision embossing. Natural looking grain patterns and nuanced texture align exactly to create an elegant surface that is almost indistinguishable from the genuine article.
But its beauty is more than skin deep. Practical, sustainable and cost-effective, Evenex PaperWall hangs as easily as traditional wallpaper, is effortless to maintain, has Group 1 fire rating and comparable durability to Type II commercial grade vinyl.
There is a range of timber looks from which to choose, complemented by metal and concrete finishes. With stock on hand at Elton Group’s Australian warehouses, you can expect your selection to be available for immediate dispatch.

REACTION TO LIGHT
All timber and timber-based surfaces change colour over time when subjected to direct or indirect light—natural or artificial. Exposure to heat and humidity has a similar effect, accelerating the natural ageing process.
To avoid fading, bleaching or colour changes, protect Evenex PaperWall surfaces from direct sunlight, very bright indirect light and excessive heat. Use curtains, blinds and UV filter membranes on windows to reduce the intensity of light.

As a Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC) certified organisation, Elton Group is committed to supplying wood products in accordance with advanced environmental standards for forests, water and raw material utilisation.
SUSTAINABLE HARVESTING
The wood fibre used to make Evenex PaperWall is sourced from well-managed, certified forests and is a rapidly renewable resource.
NO ADDED FORMALDEHYDE
Evenex PaperWall contains no added formaldehyde—only what exists naturally in the sustainably harvested natural wood fibre from which it’s made. At less than 0.1mg/m2.hr it satisfies the E0 Standard for formaldehyde emissions.
NON-TOXIC COLOURING AGENTS
The dyes used to colour Evenex PaperWall are water-based and formaldehyde free with non-toxic pigments.
NEGLIGIBLE VOCs
Natural wood fibre has negligible volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The laminating glue and water-based colourants used in the production of PaperWall are all VOC free.
PRESERVING A PRECIOUS RESOURCE
As a member of the timber products industry, Elton Group shares responsibility for protecting and ensuring the wise utilisation of forests, so they will be available for future generations.
In addition to office operations that reduce paper usage and re-use/recycle all packaging, we maintain 800 acres of natural Australian forest in Victoria’s Otway Ranges for the protection of flora and fauna.
Full installation instructions are included with every roll of Evenex PaperWall. They can also be downloaded anytime from the Downloads section below.
General Guidelines
Installation should be performed by wallpapering professionals. Given the width of Evenex PaperWall, a team of two is typically more efficient, however an experienced wallpaper installer can easily hang the product on their own.
Pre-installation Checklist
Before installing, inspect the delivered product carefully to ensure receipt of the correct colour and quantity. Store in a dry place, at a temperature between 15°C–30°C.
Ensure the lighting in the area where the product will be hung is fully installed and operational. This will help reveal any imperfections in the wall surface prior to installation, and any bubbles during installation.
Temperature and Humidity Requirements
Installation must occur in a climate-controlled environment. An approximate constant temperature of 22°C is required, with a steady relative humidity of 50–55%.
Test Hanging
A three drop test hang is recommended, as it enables the specifier to approve surface conditions and adhesion prior to installation being completed. This is a critical first step, as there are no returns on cut goods, and no claims allowed for labour charges or consequential damages.
Installation Tools
During installation all of the following may be required:
- Clean water
- Single-edge razor blades
- Soft cloth
- Sponge
- Plastic smoother
- Table
- Steel straight edge
- 18mm nap roller
- Seam roller & corner seam roller
- Double cutting tool
- Clear strippable adhesive — Roman Pro 880 — or similar
- Roman Pro-977 Ultra Prime Primer – or similar
Optional: - Heavy duty lining paper (at installer’s discretion)
- Laser level
Wall Preparation
Prior to installation, paint the walls with Roman Pro-977 Ultra Prime Primer (or similar) tinted close to the colour of your selected Evenex PaperWall product.
- Do not use sealing primer
- Do not install on sealed walls (no eggshell, satin or semi-gloss paints).
- Walls should be smooth and sanded
- If walls are already sealed or have imperfections, consider hanging heavy-duty non-woven wall liner prior to installing the product. This is at the discretion of your installer.
- Walls must be completely dry before installation can begin
Trimming
Evenex PaperWall must be trimmed or double-cut on the wall with a very sharp, single-edge razor blade.
For best results, overlap and splice joints at a slight angle, using a new blade for each cut.
A laser will ensure your installation is square and level.
Pasting
Apply a generous coat of clear strippable adhesive — Roman Pro 880 or equivalent — to the backside of the product, and allow time for it to relax.
While relaxing, the paste soaks into the sheet, which helps avoid bubbling, shrinking and seam opening during hanging. The time required for relaxing is typically five minutes, but to be certain, perform a test on a small strip.
To achieve a superior hold in corners or tight mouldings, consider using contact adhesive.
- Do not fold or crease the product
- Do not get paste on the face of the product
- Do not scrub or rub the face of the product if paste does get on it; instead, gently wipe clean, immediately, with a soft, damp cloth
- Do not use paper towel on the product
Hanging
Use a plastic smoother to gently remove bubbles. Seams may be set with a seam roller, providing the proper precautions are taken. A corner seam roller can be used to ease Evenex PaperWall into mouldings, etc. prior to cutting.
Before leaving, inspect each sheet carefully to ensure all bubbles are smoothed out—any that remain will be permanent upon completion of installation.
If necessary, seams can be touched up once dry with a colour-matched pastel to ensure the paper edge is not visible.
Please note that slight colour and/or pattern match variation may occur.
INSTALLATION TOOLS
FOR THE INSTALLER
- Refer to Installation Instructions above or below in the Downloads section
- AVOID applying adhesive tapes to the face of Evenex PaperWall as many contain solvents which will affect the material. Heat and a prolonged period of the tape being on the face can also increase the chance of damaging the surface. Should tape need to be used, refer to the Adhesive Tape Report on TESA 4308 tape which can be found under Downloads.
FOR THE SPECIFIER AND END USER
- Evenex PaperWall is formulated primarily for dry-use areas.
- Use either a soft dry cloth or feather duster to remove surface dust.
- If dust accumulation is heavy, the surface may be lightly vacuumed.
- Protect from direct, bright or reflected sunlight.
- If further cleaning is required:
– first test on a small, inconspicuous area.
– Blot soiled areas with a soft, clean cloth dampened with a weak solution of a mild liquid detergent.
– Dry with a soft cloth
– Do not allow the wallpaper to become excessively wet
– Do not use microfibre cloths for general cleaning, as they are abrasive and will gradually wear down the surface finish
– Do not apply cleaners, solvents or chemicals of any kind
