Central to the whole design is the sculpted ceiling that arcs across the tasting room—a sweeping gesture made possible with Elton Group’s Eveneer WoodWall. This surface acts as a unifying element that shapes the mood of the interior. The natural Spotted Gum veneer introduces warmth and tactility, while its continuous curves evoke the rounded forms of oak barrels and the enveloping ambience of subterranean wine cellars. It’s a ceiling that draws visitors in, amplifying the sensory quality of the experience.

The use of Eveneer WoodWall is deliberately architectural in effect. Running seamlessly from wall to ceiling, it transforms the perception of scale and enclosure, creating a cocoon-like atmosphere ideal for both intimate tastings and larger gatherings. Its fine-grained surface enhances the acoustic comfort of the space while delivering the refined finish expected in a venue dedicated to rare and premium wines.

Beyond its visual appeal, the application of Eveneer WoodWall contributes to the project’s layered narrative. By introducing a material expression reminiscent of winemaking’s reliance on timber vessels, the ceiling connects the present-day rituals of MW Wines with centuries-old traditions. It is a subtle yet powerful nod to materiality—a reminder of the craftsmanship inherent in both design and viticulture.

The wider fit-out integrates further references to the world of wine, including bespoke furniture and repurposed wine box timber, ensuring the setting feels both authentic and contemporary.

Through Maher Design’s response, MW Wines becomes a crafted environment that situates modern hospitality within the lineage of winemaking, underscored by the expressive potential of natural timber veneer. The sculpted WoodWall ceiling demonstrates how a single material application can define not only a space but also the experience it holds.
