WHAT IS THE STOPGAP PEN?
The STOPGAP Pen is a felt tipped pen designed for the easy manual application of a hydrophobic fluid sealant.
The adhesive gap is the weakest area of edged furniture, furthermore the process of trimming Prefinished timber edging exposes raw veneer which can absorb moisture, steam and dirt.
The STOPGAP Pen not only prevents dirt deposits, but above all the penetration of moisture due to its hydrophobic effect, protecting your surfaces from long-term wear and tear and ensuring longer life for your furniture.
APPLICATION
The STOPGAP Pen is designed for easy application on edged furniture parts.
First remove the pen cap and then place its sponge on the surface. Lightly pull the pen along the desired area to apply the fluid. Close the cap directly after use in order to prevent the sponge from drying out. During product application it is possible that more fluid than required will be applied. In this case, after about 15 seconds, the excess fluid should be carefully wiped off with a clean microfibre cloth. The applied fluid should dry for about 24 hours before the treated area is exposed to moisture.
The STOPGAP Pen offers approximately 200 – 300 lm of coverage.
STORAGE
The STOPGAP Pen should be kept in the original pen case in an air-conditioned place, protected from sunlight, heat and oxygenation. Pens that have already been opened must be stored with the cap tightly closed to prevent possible leakage.

LABORATORY SWELLING TEST
To demonstrate the benefits of the STOPGAP Pen, a laboratory swelling test was conducted.
One panel’s edges were sealed with STOPGAP and the other’s were left untreated. The sealed panel was allowed to dry for 24 hours before both panels were placed in a water bath for 24 hours. The result shows the sealed panel remained almost unchanged, whilst the untreated panel absorbed water and swelled on the edge.
Conclusion: The adhesive gap is the weakest area of edged furniture. This test result clearly shows the effectiveness of the STOPGAP Pen.
